The National Association for Down Syndrome Cameroon (NADSCAM) hosted an Open Door Day on Saturday, August 29, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The event provided an opportunity for families, parents, visitors, and members of the community to discover NADSCAM’s work and learn more about supporting children with Down Syndrome and special needs.
A Warm Welcome to Families and Visitors
The day began with a welcome session where participants had the opportunity to take photographs and share a memorable moment together. The programme then continued with a prayer and the singing of the National Anthem, setting a meaningful and welcoming tone for the event.

Mrs. Monique Ndjock, NADSCAM Coordinator, delivered the welcome address before the association’s founder, Mrs. Tabe Priscillia, presented the NADSCAM project and its vision.
Empowering Children Through Participation
One of the highlights of the Open Door Day was a workshop presented by the children. This activity gave the children an opportunity to participate actively in the event and demonstrate their abilities in a supportive and inclusive environment.
The programme also included a film screening dedicated to Down Syndrome, providing participants with an opportunity to gain greater awareness and understanding of the condition.

Giving Parents a Voice
Families played an important role in the event through a personal testimony from Judge’s mother, followed by an open discussion where parents were invited to share their experiences, perspectives, and questions.
Participants were also given the opportunity to take part in a guided tour of the NADSCAM centre, allowing visitors to discover the environment in which children receive support and services.
Building Awareness and Community Support
The Open Door Day concluded with refreshments and an interactive Question-and-Answer session, giving participants an opportunity to engage with the organisers and learn more about NADSCAM’s activities and mission.
The event ended with closing remarks, bringing together children, parents, families, and members of the community around a shared commitment to inclusion, support, and a better future for children with Down Syndrome.
Through initiatives such as the Open Door Day, NADSCAM continues to promote awareness, inclusion, family involvement, and support for children with Down Syndrome and their families in Cameroon.
